Hо̄para Week 2 Term 4 Blog Post
Kia ora Hōpara whānau
Wow this week has been very eventful with students in Hōpara competing in the Duathlon and our annual athletics day. It was wonderful to see all of our team giving every event their best shot, encouraging each other and striving for personal excellence. Thank you to all of the parents that attended, this makes the day so much more special for the children!
I would also like the opportunity to introduce our two student teachers Zara Toohey and Ashley Nuttall. They are both 1st year students and have slotted into our space perfectly - we feel very lucky to have them with us for the next couple of weeks.
Production:
This has been underway with staff over the last few weeks and we are now at the stage where students will be selecting their "team item". Today they would have heard a "pitch" from each team, in which they will choose in connection to their interest and passions. There will also be a number of "main roles" that will be announced in the coming week.
Sun Hats: Could all parents please make sure their child has a blue bucket sunhat, the consequence now for not wearing a hat is sitting under the shade sail for the entire break time. We really want to encourage our tamariki to be "sun safe".
SPCA - Last term we introduced the new "chill clubs", one of the clubs final outcomes was to create a sustainable product that could be sold or used for charity. This group chose to make pet beds out of old tires. In the last round of chill clubs we also had a market day, we managed to raise $50.50 for the SPCA too. Today Martha Drummond and Sarah Long kindly offered to take the girls to donate their beds and the money we had raised - they were extremely thankful for our contributions!Mon 26th: Labour Day
Tues 27th: Year 8 Camp Wellington week
Whakarewa & Tūhura camp day
Fri 30th: Sausage sizzle
Before and after school conversations - If you would like to talk to us about your child's learning or wellbeing we would appreciate you emailing one of us to make a specific time - this would provide us with enough time to collate and prepare any data required.
