Wk 7 Hōpara Notices

Kia ora Parents/Caregivers 
Once again we have had a great week in Hōpara! This week we have been delving deep into our inquiry, with the focus particularly on "Change". We were lucky enough to have Alice's dad Sam join us on Monday to show us his extremely old traction engine which connected perfectly with our topic of "Transport over time".

Things to continue to remember/know.....

 Science experiment:
This coming Thursday we will be doing a science experiment where the children are required to bring a few things from home. Have a chat to your child about what they are planning and what they might need for the experiment.

CLARKVILLE GALA 
Gala date (Friday, 20 March) 
Please check the Gala information that was added to the school app and emailed out this week, all offers of help would be greatly appreciated. There are many ways that families can get involved and it is all outlined in the information that has been sent out.

Classroom reminders:
Please be aware that we will not be opening our classroom door or be in the classroom until 8.30am each day, thank you for respecting this. 

Clarkville App: 
Please make sure you have ticked the notifications area for Hōpara otherwise you will not receive alerts/notices. 
Devices - 
If your child has their own BYOD device they can now start to bring it to school.We will support them with getting it functioning on our school wifi. 

Togs - 
Children in Hōpara can now begin to bring these on daily basis.

  Kia ora Hōpara Whānau  We have just reached the half way point of the term, gosh it has gone fast! We have had quite a bit of sickness in our class over the last fews, we thank those who have stayed home to reduce passing it on. This week we began our inquiry into bottle water, the students came up with a series of initial wonderings which they explored further.  Kia ora e te Whānau  I hope your children have come home this week excited about their role in the upcoming production?! I know we are all excited for you to see it in action. Nick and myself have been sick over different days this week, we are lucky to have such an amazing class who behave for whoever is in front of them #grateful! As the next two week commences our core learning programme will get thinner due to the time frames we have, we are also mindful of not adding any extra stress to your children at this busy time!  Head-lice:  Let's keep on top of it until the end of the year with nightly checks - much appreciated Nick and Ashley  Sun Hats:  Could all parents please make sure their child has a blue bucket sunhat, the consequence now for not wearing a hat is sitting under the shade sail for the entire break time. Hо̄para Week 2 Term 4 Blog Post

Kia ora Hōpara whānau  Wow this week has been very eventful with students in Hōpara competing in the Duathlon and our annual athletics day. It was wonderful to see all of our team giving every event their best shot, encouraging each other and striving for personal excellence. Thank you to all of the parents that attended, this makes the day so much more special for the children!  I would also like the opportunity to introduce our two student teachers Zara Toohey and Ashley Nuttall. They are both 1st year students and have slotted into our space perfectly - we feel very lucky to have them with us for the next couple of weeks.  Production:  This has been underway with staff over the last few weeks and we are now at the stage where students will be selecting their "team item".
