Hōpara Home Learning Update Week 2

Kia ora everyone! 

 I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather we are having this weekend and getting outside for a walk, run or bike with your bubble. 

 Firstly, I would like to thank you all for assisting us with the online learning transition, I can assure you it has been a huge learning curve for us all! Well done to everyone who got online last week and completed some work that was provided for you, we have loved seeing all of the amazing things you have been doing at home. 

 This week will run fairly similar to last week, the only change being that Nick and Ashley will be doing their YOUTUBE lives on Tuesday and Thursday. 

Please read and go through this information with your child: 

You should be aiming to do at least 1 HOUR of work per day 

1. CHILL (This can be located in your Chill folder in your Google Drive) This will be marked and feedback will be given to determine whether you need to fix something or it is completed - MAKE SURE YOU WRITE YOUR REFLECTION 

2. Literacy - This will be set by YOUR literacy teacher (This can be located in your LITERACY folder in your Google Drive OR where your teacher has advised)

3. Maths - This will be set by YOUR maths teacher (This will be located in your Maths folder OR where your Maths teacher has advised/told you)

EMAILS: All children need to be checking their emails (gmail) regularly to ensure they are getting the correct links from their subject specific teachers. 

ALL work needs to be uploaded to your HOME LEARNING LOG that was sent you last term (This is in your CHILL folder in Google Drive)

Tips for setting yourself up for successful Home Learning: 
1. Sit somewhere quiet (perhaps on your own) ensure there is good lighting and you are comfortable. 
2. Routine - Start and finish your learning at the same time everyday (approx 1 hour per-day)
3.Have your box, pencil case and a water bottle ready for learning. 
4. Read tasks sent to you twice and/or get your parents or siblings to help you.
5. Take food breaks if you need! 


FEEDBACK/TEACHER COMMENTS: All teachers will be giving feedback daily (Please note we may not get to everyone on the day you upload your work, but you will get feedback)

YOUTUBE LIVE: Mr B and Ashley will be aiming to go LIVE on youtube 2x a week to connect and chat with you guys! We will always send out an APP alert first to let you know when to connect. We will be going LIVE ON TUESDAY AT 10.05AM AND THURSDAY AT 9.30AM

  Kia ora Hōpara Whānau  We have just reached the half way point of the term, gosh it has gone fast! We have had quite a bit of sickness in our class over the last fews, we thank those who have stayed home to reduce passing it on. Week 7 Blog Post

 Kia ora e te Whānau  I hope your children have come home this week excited about their role in the upcoming production?! I know we are all excited for you to see it in action. Nick and myself have been sick over different days this week, we are lucky to have such an amazing class who behave for whoever is in front of them #grateful! As the next two week commences our core learning programme will get thinner due to the time frames we have, we are also mindful of not adding any extra stress to your children at this busy time!  Head-lice:  Let's keep on top of it until the end of the year with nightly checks - much appreciated Nick and Ashley  Sun Hats:  Could all parents please make sure their child has a blue bucket sunhat, the consequence now for not wearing a hat is sitting under the shade sail for the entire break time. Hо̄para Week 2 Term 4 Blog Post

Kia ora Hōpara whānau  Wow this week has been very eventful with students in Hōpara competing in the Duathlon and our annual athletics day. It was wonderful to see all of our team giving every event their best shot, encouraging each other and striving for personal excellence. Thank you to all of the parents that attended, this makes the day so much more special for the children!  I would also like the opportunity to introduce our two student teachers Zara Toohey and Ashley Nuttall. They are both 1st year students and have slotted into our space perfectly - we feel very lucky to have them with us for the next couple of weeks.  Production:  This has been underway with staff over the last few weeks and we are now at the stage where students will be selecting their "team item".
