Hо̄para Week 4 Term 4 Blog Post

Kia ora e te whānau

From our students.....Another week has flown by! The students this week have been working hard on their core learning. All students have been getting stuck in to learning some more language features  for poetry and working with fractions. Chill clubs are going great, the students are all delving into their club. There is great progress being made across the class! A special week in Hōpara this week as the students took on a leadership role and worked alongside Tūhura. They guided them with a coding task, which was amazing!

We all got started on production practice this week which is very exciting. Hōpara are spending the afternoons with their production group spread out across the school. They are helping the senior students to lead their groups and are setting fabulous example for the younger students.

Head-lice - There are a few head lice notices that still need to come back. In order for us to keep on top of it we need to know that Hōpara students have been checked.

Sun Hats: Could all parents please make sure their child has a blue bucket sunhat, the consequence now for not wearing a hat is sitting under the shade sail for the entire break time. We really want to encourage our tamariki to be "sun safe".

Notice from Mātawara:

The Year 8 Leadership Celebration!

Each year, our Year 8 students complete their LEADERSHIP PROJECT - this is an action research project that models the expectations of High School for our students. If you have ever wondered what the Year 8 Leadership Projects are all about... well, we have a treat for you!

On WEDNESDAY 11th NOVEMBER from 2:30pm - 3:30pm, our 2020 Year 8's welcome you to MATAWARA to come in and explore the Leadership Presentations that they have created.

WHO IS THIS FOR...

EVERYONE in the school - we are celebrating all that this bunch of Year 8's have achieved, and it will be great for all of our school community to see this!

WHAT YOU WILL SEE...

The wide range of projects we have had this year and discuss with our Leaders how they went about their project.

WHAT YOU WILL HEAR...

You will have the opportunity to ask questions of our Year 8's and learn about the highlights and outcomes they achieved in their project, and how they navigated hurdles.

So, save the date, and come on in to see us! We can't wait to share what we have learned!
